In September 2001, for example, Getnick & Getnick was retained as compliance counsel by a major publicly held corporation that does business in the public, commercial and residential construction industry in New York City and the Northeast U.S. This retention includes undertaking business integrity assessments; helping develop business codes of conduct; monitoring and investigating business practices and operations to determine that the company's subsidiaries comply with the business codes of conduct and otherwise operate lawfully; and recommending changes regarding business practices consistent with the foregoing. Working together with investigators and forensic accountants, Getnick & Getnick has investigated a number of specific integrity-related matters referred to it by the company and has reported both on the specifics of the matter and on any systemic compliance problems arising therefrom. Getnick & Getnick has also undertaken a comprehensive business integrity review covering all of the corporation's subsidiaries operating in unregulated industries.
